Clean and renewable sources of energy

In a world increasingly demanding in relation to the efficiency of the use of its natural resources and more aware of the importance of sustainability, the use of renewable energies has been gaining prominence. The realization of EnerSolar + Brazil | International Fair of Technologies for Solar Energy and the 7^th Congress of Clean and Renewable Technologies for the Generation of Energy | Ecoenergy, held from May 23 to 25, 2017, at São Paulo Expo, in São Paulo, once again presents the opportunity to present and discuss innovations and the latest technologies in the sector.

Luiz Carlos Corrêa Carvalho, President of ABAG – Brazilian Association of Agribusiness reinforces that Brazil still has a lot to evolve in the use of clean and renewable sources for the generation of energy. “Segments such as solar, photovoltaic and wind energy require EnerSolar + Brazil to be broadcast. Brazilian agribusiness needs to accelerate the step in this direction in the global decarbonization line of the planet. The world cries out for sustainability in energy production and we believe Brazil has the potential to remain a leading player in this regard.” 

ABAG is pleased to support this event by being aware of Brazil’s competitive ability to use biomass from agribusiness for the generation of bioenergy. In 2016, it represented 9% of the power in Brazil’s electricity matrix, granted by the National Electric Power Agency (ANEEL). Of these, 75% are biomass from sugarcane by-products, which is the country’s flagship in terms of renewable energy with the production of hydrous ethanol, the main substitute for non-renewable fossil fuels, cogeneration of electric energy from sugarcane bagasse and also the relevance of vegetable oils and tallow derived from meat producing biodiesel, instead of diesel.

Biomass in focus

As a novelty in 2017, Biomass Day was created to foster discussions on the potential of the combination of biomass and other renewable sources for power generation, which will take place on May 24, parallel to the second of the Congress of Clean and Renewable Technologies for Generation of Energy | Ecoenergy. The agendas of the 7^th Ecoenergy and Biomass Day present debates on strategic topics that are the drivers of business and partnerships at EnerSolar + Brazil that brings diversity of products, launches and business opportunity through 80 exhibitors of the segments of solar heaters, solar thermal plates, photovoltaic panels, wind turbines, inverters, biomass transport and handling machines, boilers and burners, among others. The events are organized by Cipa Fiera Milano.
