Specialists of the sector will discuss the new possibilities created by the National Biofuel Policy in relation to technologies, projects, investments and market<\/em><\/p>\n

S\u00e3o Paulo, April 8 201<\/strong> – The 2nd Biomass Day – International Biomass Conference, which takes place from May 22 to 24 at S\u00e3o Paulo Expo, will discuss the potential and demand for incentives for biomass as a source of energy and generation of products with high added value. The recently regulated RenovaBio – National Biofuels Policy will highlight the program by encouraging the use and production of advanced biofuels with a footprint of less and less carbon.<\/p>\n

The event is an integral part of the 7th EnerSolar + Brasil – International Fair of Technologies for Solar Energy, organized by Cipa Fiera Milano, and interested parties can register through www.congressobiomassday.com.br<\/a>. RenovaBio will be approached by several renowned professionals of the sector, such as Marcos Barros, Bioenergy specialist at the Department Agribusiness and FoodFINEP – Brazilian Enterprise for Innovation and Research.<\/p>\n

“In this new scenario, investment in research, development and innovation is indispensable for the biotechnological expansion of biomass, as well as for agricultural production and its industrial processing” he says. Barros will also expose how Finep aims to support, with the best conditions, projects of higher technological risk and which are potentially more relevant to the country, such as new varieties for energy agriculture, especially the cane sugar and cane-energy.<\/p>\n

According to the executive, it will also be important to discuss the full domain of the technological cycle for lignocellulosic ethanol; flexible solutions for the use of different types of biomass in biorefineries; development of new biofuels; and expansion and national domain of production of biogas from different substrates. “I will seek to generate an incentive to propose innovative biomass projects with the participating public,” he says.<\/p>\n

Lytton Medrado, CEO of Bazico Tecnologia e Consultoria Ltda. will address the contribution of biogas as the new energetic matrix and how RenovaBio will generate incentives to the sugarcane industry. He mentions the goal of achieving the production of 50 billion gallons of ethanol by 2030 (currently, Brazil produces 30 billion per year), which will significantly expand the available biomass for power generation and biogas with the sugarcane bagasse, vinasse and filter cake.<\/p>\n

“We have a great unused potential of biomass and the relatively new anaerobic biodigestion technology in the country, is a very efficient alternative for the treatment of waste and urban sewage for the generation of renewable and sustainable energy, “he explains. According to Medrado even with RenovaBio, still lack an incentive policy that reduces the tax burden on investments, which remains very high.<\/p>\n

In addition, there is also the need of special credit lines which public and private sector financial institutions can participate, according to the businessman. Bazico is the exclusive representative in Brazil of Lars Enviro, which has 400 plants in operation around the world treating various types of effluents. Out of these, 272 are of anaerobic biodigestion producing biogas (2.2 million m3\/day) for 26 types of industries, of which more than 100 remain in distilleries and use vinasse and filter cake from the production of sugar and ethanol from sugarcane.<\/p>\n

“It will be an excellent opportunity for participants to learn more about the subject, including the importance of choosing the most appropriate technology as an essential requirement for efficiency and profitability in projects,” he points out. The 2nd Biomass Day will also have the participation of Fabricio Soler, partner of Felsberg Advogados and Chairman of the Energy Law Commission of OAB\/SP; Camila Agner D’Aquino, executive manager of ABiog\u00e1s – Associa\u00e7\u00e3o Brasileira de Biog\u00e1s e Biometano.<\/p>\n
